AutoInsulate Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TiMBIM processes personal data when you install, activate, or use the AutoInsulate add-in for Autodesk® Revit®.
1. Data controller
AutoInsulate is provided by:
TiMBIM BV
Stuyvenberg 7
1150 Brussels
Belgium
VAT: BE 0803.846.720
Email: info@timbim.eu
Website:
https://www.timbim.eu
TiMBIM BV is the data controller for the processing described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Personal data processed by AutoInsulate
AutoInsulate may process the following data for licence activation and validation:
- Your Autodesk user ID.
- Your email address, username, or another Autodesk identity identifier made available by Revit.
- A licence email address and licence key entered by you.
- The AutoInsulate product identifier, Autodesk App Store application identifier, and installed application version.
- Licence status, licence type, subscription or plan name, validation dates, and licence expiry date.
- Your IP address and standard technical request information received by the licensing web server.
If you contact TiMBIM for support, purchase a licence, or communicate through the Autodesk App Store or another sales channel, TiMBIM may also process the contact, account, purchase, and support information you provide.
3. Purposes and legal bases
Licence activation and validation
Identity, licence, and product information is used to:
- Determine whether you are entitled to use AutoInsulate.
- Activate and manage licences, trials, subscriptions, and assigned seats.
- Prevent unauthorised or fraudulent licence use.
- Provide limited offline licence validation.
- Diagnose licence activation problems.
This processing is necessary to provide AutoInsulate under its licence terms or another agreement with you or your organisation. Where applicable, TiMBIM also relies on its legitimate interest in protecting and administering its software licences.
Customer service and administration
Contact, purchase, and support information may be used to:
- Respond to questions and support requests.
- Administer purchases, accounts, subscriptions, and refunds.
- Provide important service, security, or product notices.
- Comply with accounting, tax, and other legal obligations.
This processing is based on performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, or TiMBIM's legitimate interest in providing customer service.
Promotional communications will only be sent where permitted by applicable law. You may unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time.
4. Data transmitted by the add-in
When AutoInsulate performs an online licence check, the applicable
identity, licence, product, and application-version information is
transmitted securely over HTTPS to TiMBIM's licensing service at
timbim.eu.
Opening certain AutoInsulate screens, such as the About screen, may also
request visual content hosted on timbim.eu. The web server
will receive the IP address and standard request information needed to
provide that content.
AutoInsulate does not upload your Revit models, model elements, project files, insulation rules, or insulation configurations to TiMBIM's licensing service.
AutoInsulate does not include advertising or behavioural analytics, and TiMBIM does not sell personal data processed through the add-in.
5. Local storage
AutoInsulate stores a licence cache on the local Windows device at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TiMBIM\AutoInsulate\license-cache.json
Depending on the licence type, this cache may contain:
- Autodesk user and application identifiers.
- The licence email address and licence key.
- Licence and validation status.
- Product and plan information.
- Validation and expiry dates.
The cache enables AutoInsulate to remember activation information and, following a successful online validation, may permit offline use for up to seven days.
Clearing the website licence from within AutoInsulate removes the corresponding licence information from this cache. Uninstalling AutoInsulate may not automatically delete the cache file. It can be removed manually from the location above when AutoInsulate is no longer installed or used.
The local cache is accessible to the applicable Windows user account and is not represented as encrypted storage. Users and organisations should apply appropriate Windows account and device-security controls.
6. Recipients and service providers
Personal data may be accessible to:
- Authorised TiMBIM personnel who require it for licensing, account administration, or support.
- Website, server, database, email, payment, and IT service providers acting on TiMBIM's instructions.
- Autodesk when you separately interact with the Autodesk App Store or other Autodesk services.
- Professional advisers, authorities, or courts where disclosure is legally required or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- One.com Group AB, which provides website and licensing-service hosting and acts as a data processor for TiMBIM.
Autodesk processes information collected through its own services according to Autodesk's privacy notices. Websites opened through links in AutoInsulate are governed by the privacy policies of their respective operators.
7. Hosting and international transfers
TiMBIM uses One.com Group AB as a hosting and data-processing provider for its website and licensing service.
According to One.com, data belonging to customers residing in the European Union is hosted in its data centres in Denmark, within the European Union.
One.com may use approved subprocessors and network infrastructure in other countries. If personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area, an appropriate safeguard required by the GDPR will be used, such as an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission or European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.
Additional information about One.com's processing practices is available in its Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement .
8. Retention
TiMBIM retains personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including:
- For the duration of an active trial, licence, subscription, or customer relationship.
- For a reasonable period afterwards to resolve disputes, prevent licence abuse, and establish or defend legal claims.
- For the period required by applicable accounting, tax, or other laws.
- For the applicable retention period of security and web-server logs.
Local licence information remains on the user's device until it is cleared through AutoInsulate or the cache file is manually deleted.
Data that is no longer required will be deleted or anonymised.
9. Automated licence decisions
AutoInsulate uses an automated licence check to determine whether access to the add-in should be granted. The check compares the submitted identity, product, licence, subscription, trial, and expiry information with TiMBIM's licensing records.
An unsuccessful check may temporarily prevent access to AutoInsulate. It is not used for advertising or user profiling.
If you believe a licence decision is incorrect, contact info@timbim.eu and request a manual review.
10. Your rights
Subject to the conditions and limitations of applicable data-protection law, you may have the right to:
- Obtain information about the processing of your personal data.
- Request access to your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Request restriction of processing.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Receive certain data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Request human review of an automated licence decision where applicable.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. Some information may need to be retained or processed where it is required to provide a licence, comply with the law, or establish or defend legal claims.
To exercise your rights, contact info@timbim.eu. TiMBIM may request information necessary to verify your identity.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority or the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work:

11. Security
TiMBIM uses appropriate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.
Online licence-validation requests are transmitted using HTTPS. No method of electronic transmission or storage can, however, be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
TiMBIM may update this Privacy Policy when AutoInsulate, its licensing system, or applicable legal requirements change.
The latest version will identify its revision date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel, such as the product page, website, application, or email.
