Overview
TiMBIM Explorer is a Windows file explorer built around structured project naming. Instead of treating a filename as one block of text, it can validate and work with its individual fields, codes, and descriptions.
Standardize names, find exceptions, correct many files safely, and export the resulting information for checking, reporting, delivery, or handover. Companion add-ins extend the same conventions into Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Apply Naming Conventions
Create or import naming standards, assign them to folders, and let subfolders inherit them. Explorer validates required fields, separators, and lookup codes while showing each parsed field as usable information.
Batch-Rename With Control
Correct many names with ordered rename steps, advanced expressions, numbering, or convention-field overrides. Preview proposed names first; Explorer stops duplicate targets and other naming conflicts before changes are applied.
Search Structured Filename Fields
Search by individual naming fields and lookup values as well as filename, naming status, file type, state, size, modified date, and folder scope. Find the information encoded inside filenames without opening every file.
Export File And Naming Details

Browse Two Locations Side By Side
Work with two independent Explorer windows in the same workspace. Resize the split, minimize the second window when it is not needed, and choose which window Search or Rename should act on.
Drag, Drop, Copy, And Move
Drag selected files and folders to another open location. A normal drag moves the selection; hold Ctrl while dropping to copy it instead. Copy To and Move To remain available from the context menu.
Export A Structured File List
Export the current location or search results to TXT, CSV, or Excel. Include subfolders, naming descriptions, sizes, dates, and optional hierarchical Excel grouping.

Quick Start
- Open TiMBIM Explorer and choose a starting folder or pinned location
- Open another location in Window 2 when you want to compare, copy, or move between folders
- Choose List or Preview from the View menu and enable only the browsing details you need
- Assign or review the naming convention for that folder when structured naming is needed
- Use advanced search or rename tools when you want to narrow or change the result set
- Check the details panel for file, naming, and optional Revit-related context before larger changes

Compatibility
The current application version is TiMBIM Explorer 1.2.6. It is a Windows desktop application designed for local folders, synced folders, and connected document locations that are available through Windows. Its Office add-ins work with the desktop Windows versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Revit-aware actions require a compatible Autodesk Revit version on the same workstation.
