Revit Tagging Automation

TagSuite

Build reusable tagging rules, apply them to the right views, and keep annotation work more consistent across MEP-focused Revit projects.

TagSuite 1.0.0 is currently available as a trial version for testing, and input from users would be greatly appreciated while the add-in is being evaluated in real project workflows.

Overview

TagSuite gives Revit users one focused workspace for defining, saving, and applying tagging rules where they matter. Instead of repeating the same annotation decisions view by view, teams can prepare rule logic once, choose the views they want to process, and reuse the same setup when project conditions change.

The add-in is especially helpful when tagging standards need to stay practical across many sheets and view types. Saved XML rule sets make it easier to keep a repeatable starting point without locking every project into exactly the same setup.

What You Can Do

Reusable tag rules

Create and manage rules with category filters, parameter filters, view filters, tag family selection, placement options, and shared layout defaults.

View-aware tagging runs

Apply rules to a current selection, the active view, or selected views that use chosen view templates, including plans, sections, elevations, and other supported view types.

Flexible tag modes

Work with category tags, multi-category tags, material tags, element keynotes, material keynotes, and detail item markers in one shared workflow.

Existing-tag handling and cleanup

Choose whether already tagged elements should stay untouched or be replaced, then use the built-in alignment tools to clean up spacing after placement.

Quick Start

Need Help?

The help page explains the main tagging workflow, rule setup, and where the apply modes and alignment tools are most useful in day-to-day project work.

Why Teams Use It

  • Reduce repeated tagging setup work by keeping rules in one reusable workspace
  • Target the right views instead of repeating the same manual steps across the project
  • Reuse XML rule sets across teams and projects while still adapting per model
  • Include linked-model content when needed for broader coordination workflows
  • Clean up results with alignment tools after automated placement

Good Fit For

Compatibility

TagSuite is currently prepared for Revit 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027. If you are planning a rollout across mixed Revit versions or multiple project teams, it is worth confirming the target version mix in advance so testing and deployment stay predictable.
